Happy Holidays To All Fans Of CHIC!

Happy Holidays from Stockholm to all fans of CHIC!

2011 has been a great CHIC year and here’s hoping that 2012 will be even better.

My wishes for the new year is that we finally get to buy the CHIC produced Johnny Mathis album “I Love My Lady“…

I’m also hoping Nile will be able to get the CHIC produced Fonzi Thornton album “Frostbite” out on CD, or at least as a digital download.

There’s also the question of when we will see the next volume, no. 2, of the CHIC Org. box set, as well as the new CHIC album, “Soiree” that was originally announced in 2001, and then again in 2003, and in 2004 and in 2006 and in….

I also would love a video compilation of promo clips and TV appearances, with interviews and, dare I say it, a full concert with CHIC from their heyday.

…and I wouldn’t mind a cofee table book of high gloss promo photos of our favorite gang.

Completely unrelated and, to some commentators here, not very welcome, smiley
I’ve tried my hand at mixing… so this is my very first effort ever.. It’s a sampling from CHIC’s “Good Times” and Nile Rodgers’ guitar from “I Want Your Love” put together with Loleatta Holloway‘s vocals from her hit “Love Sensation“. Be kind guys.

More Big Apple Band!!

Other CHIC Related Posted on 2011-11-06 12:18

Yesterday Nile Rodgers released the stunning video clip of the pre-CHIC Big Apple Band with Nile Rodgers (guitar), Bernard Edwards (bass), Tony Thompson (drums) and Bobby Cotter on lead vocal. The video was given to Nile by Kenny Lehman (above photo) who collaborated with CHIC on their first single “Dance, Dance Dance”. Today we get to see them doing a cover of The Bee Gees hit single “You Should Be Dancing” and as before they manage to make it sound very CHIC-like.

Nile writes this on his blog today:

Before we became CHIC we had tried many different formulas. We were a rock-fusion band called The Boiz and we were also The Big Apple Band.

The labels all loved our rock demos but turned us down after they saw we were black. We couldn’t get signed anywhere. It soon became apparent that the openess of the disco movement would let us in…“

UPDATED 111107:

Today Nile gave us yet another of these Big Apple Band gems. This time they’re doing a cover of Chaka Khan & Rufus’ “Sweet Thing”.

UPDATED 111108:

The below clip seems to be the last one from Nile. This time they’re doing a cover of Boz Scaggs’ “Lowdown”.
